Barcelona, beautiful!!!!Barcelona brims with history, stunning architecture and rich culture. With Mediterranean breezes, Spain's Catalonian capital is a feast for the senses. Long strolls on wide boulevards--such as Las Ramblas, the mile-long leafy pedestrian way, and the Passeig de Gràcia, lined with some of Europe's most elegant buildings--set the tone for a city that moves to its own tempo.
Native son and famed surrealist architect Antoni Gaudí adorned his city with whimsy, along city blocks, the delightful Park Guell, and with his colossal masterpiece, the towering La Sagrada Família Cathedral.
Picturesque medieval lanes wind through the oldest part of the city, the Barri Gòtic, or Gothic Quarter, where remnants of the former Roman city wall were uncovered. Its treasures include the neo-Gothic Barcelona Cathedral, and medieval government buildings mixed with shops, restaurants, and museums.
Barcelona is such a vibrant, clean city with the most amazing architecture, tree lined streets, parks.
We walked amost 10 miles on day 1, enjoying the beautiful city, Gaudi works, his huge Park Guell, and of course Segrada Familia, which has been under construction for over 100 years, with no realistic end date in sight.
